About Us

At Symplany, we believe that plans and portfolios belong together.

Our story

In 2004, Jeff, co-founder of Symplany, was on his way up to Canada for a fishing trip. He was entertaining himself by reading scholarly finance articles, when it hit him: there's a better way to build, understand, and manage retirement portfolios. After a few years of building, refining, and testing this new strategy, he decided that Symplany was ready to be taken to the next level. In 2008, he teamed up with Alex, who began programming Symplany. Since then, Jeff has worked to pursue his vision of making Symplany an innovative alternative to traditional asset allocation. With the help of Alex's programming skills, the two have made this vision a reality.

Symplany seeks to help investors to more confidently navigate their retirement. And even have some fun along the way!

Meet our co-founders

Alex Korn, CEO and co-founder of Symplany, has been programming since he was 12 years old. A mathematics major with a focus on finance and economics, he worked at a startup in the Bay Area for two years before pursuing Symplany full-time. Combining his deep knowledge of algorithms and software architecture with his love of finance and simplifying complex ideas, he leads Symplany's development team in the creation of our application.

Outside of work, you'll find Alex downhill skiing, biking, or traveling with his wife Natalie.
